St. Michael School Accreditation

In the fall of 2010, the faculty and staff of St. Michael School began an intensive self-study required in the process of continuing accreditation. The self-study takes over 18 months to complete and results in an in-depth examination of every facet of the school as well as a serious, top to bottom look at both Catholic identity and curricular areas.

St. Michael School already meets or exceeds all state educational requirements. Under the guidance of the Archdiocese of Seattle Catholic Schools Department, St. Michael joins with other Archdiocesan schools seeking accreditation from the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, and the Western Catholic Education Association.

The staff, students, parish staff, and parents of the school all participate in this study. The final study will be published in December 2011. In those areas where the self-study indicates a need for change or growth, the faculty and staff will develop action plans which will be implemented upon completion.

Following the evaluation of the self-study by a visiting team of educational professionals in the winter of 2012, St. Michael School will granted accreditation.

In May 2006, the school was granted another full term (six year) accreditation following the second two-year self-study process, the result of collaborative work involving students, parents, school staff, parish staff, and parishioners.
